The Not so quiet Quiet

The forest is full of sounds.

Even when it seems quiet it's not.

The birds and amphibians are particularly noisy at this time of the year. And the warm weather means that the cones in the trees are constantly making popping noises.

The wind causes the trees to whisper - sometimes roar.

The insects are noisy too... buzzing in all sorts of pitches, but also footsteps can be heard if you stand/sit still and really listen. Ants marching and dragging things across the forest floor.

My own noise. Clothes rustling, breathing, footsteps, twigs breaking.

The noise of other humans in the forest... sometimes loud and intrusive - talking about work and problems and dumping them in the forest... others lighter more joyful and less annoying to hear despite being the same volume. Airplanes overhead intruding with their sounds. In the distance cars can be heard as a constant faint hum. Dogs barking at people passing by beyond the forest.
